About Cinematic North
Cinematic North comes from a desire to produce high-quality film and photo creations. The vision comes from owner Christopher Aylward, who’s passion for being a creator encompasses every part of the process, from standing behind the lens to sitting at the editing suite.
Cinematic North, based out of the Niagara Region in Ontario, Canada, was born out of a desire to become one of Niagara’s most unique content creators, both in Cinematography and Photography.
“CineNorth” has travelled throughout Ontario and beyond. We work in digital formats for short and full-feature films, music videos, weddings, corporate, commercials and more! We’ve also worked on government projects at various levels, and have contributed work for charities, as we seek to work with and for the community.
We also have a number of creative partners in the industry with whom we work with. We’re proudly part of a creative community.

“I fell in love with film at an early age. Back when I was handed my first film camera, an Elmo Super 8mm, the passion of filmmaking was instilled within me. I’m equally passionate about film editing, as I take great pleasure in the entire process of telling the story. From Shooting, to Audio, to VFX, to Colour Grading, content creation is what truly motivates me.
For me, the art of film creation is inspiring. When people come together to apply their trade, utilize their unique skill-set and watch the process develop and unfold to reach the final product, it’s something else. That’s why I started Cinematic North; The People. We’re all in this together.

“I’ve had a passion for photography and bringing what I see to life ever since picking up my first camera – a Polaroid – and transitioning over time from film to digital in my professional work.
My personal work sees me connecting with the Great Lakes surfers, sharing stories through photos and words of a very passionate community. For nearly three decades I’ve told stories about people from across Niagara and look forward to telling more stories through Cinematic North and its team.

WHAT WE SHOOT WITH
We’re always adding to our arsenal of film gear. We even bring in special equipment (cameras, lenses, rigs, etc.) when needed.
We’re CANON shooters, and we’re proud of that fact. We proudly shoot on our Canon C100 Mark II, which is our primary camera. We also use DSLR b-cameras like our 70D, 7D, etc., for “Run & Gun” style shooting.
We also have everything we need to complete a production. Camera Gimbals, Jibs and Cranes, Professional Drones, Lighting rigs, audio recorders and much more. Cinematic North is ready for your next project.
WHAT WE EDIT WITH
Our editing suite provides us the ability to painstakingly craft the final product. As most in the industry, we’re Mac users, primarily using Final Cut Pro X (FCPX) as our primary NLE (non-linear editing) system. We also have experience and use Adobe Premier, Avid, and a few other editing systems, depending on the project editor.
We do most of our own graphics work (titles, etc.) through Apple Motion. Colour-grading is done through programs like DaVinci Resolve, FCPX, etc. A All of our customer-specific graphic work is handled by our Designer, Megan.
We also have a massive music catalogue at our disposal, filled with hundreds of thousands of fully-licensed, quality music.
WHY WE DO IT
No cookie-cutter productions here. We’re only wanting to create something that not only you’ll be proud of, but something we’ll be proud of as well. We use professional gear from production to post-production, ensuring quality cinematography/photography, and an equally impressive final cut.
