UPDATE: January, 2019

Transport Canada has announced New Drone Laws that will come into effect on June 1st, 2019. While the new laws increase flight operations by removing restrictive barriers that are currently in place, we now await word on when the drones Cinematic North currently utilizes, will be added to the official RPAS Safety Assurance list for Advanced Operations.

Our pilots are in the process of registering aircraft and completing final tests to become fully certified prior to the new laws taking effect. Cinematic North believes in safe operation of our drones used as we capture breathtaking imagery. Updates about our progress and the changes to how we will conduct future flights, will be posted here.

For now, the current law still applies. Prior to June 1st, 2019 we will need to apply for and obtain a Special Flight Operations Certificate prior to your requested event/shoot. Contact us should you have any questions and/or need clarification. As always, customers will not need to pay additional fees for us to obtain proper certificates.

We have several experienced years in safe and professional control of various UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, aka “Drones”).

We have the tools to make it happen. Why settle for lacklustre, shaky “drone shots”, when Cinematic North can shoot professional aerial for both video and/or photo. Don’t trust your work to non-professionals, who fly recklessly and/or give you sub-par imagery.

Aerial Imagery Services include professional image capturing (photo and/or video), processing and editing. Finished product is delivered in person.

We also provide an Hourly Rate for special events that require ONLY aerial shots.

Where Are You Based? Do You Travel?

We’re located in the heart of the Niagara Peninsula (Often called the Niagara Region). However, we love a good road trip and new experiences that fuel our creative edge. Simply contact us and we’ll provide you with a customized quote based on location and needs.

What Are Your Rates?

Our Aerial services begin at $250 for small projects. Our quotes are catered to your specific needs, and will include insurance from the drone operator (us). We only fly in a safe manner, using the guidelines provided by Transport Canada. We offer add-ons depending on your various needs.

What payment methods do you accept?

We’re about making the best use of available technology to keep things simple and effective. While you can always pay with cash, we’re set up with Square to simply and securely accept and process payments.

Pay via INTERAC Flash®, contactless and chip credit cards like MasterCard and Visa, or with Apple Pay or Google Pay.

Can I choose the angle and/or shooting location from the drone?

As professional cinematographers and editors, we have a definitive process when using our creativity, be it behind the lens, in controlling our aerial vehicle, or in front of our editing suite. While we specialize in the workflow that goes into working on your project, we want to make sure you get the shot(s) you envision.

Cinematic North will work with you in selecting the right scene at the right time, but will offer our professional suggestions where needed. We rely on your trust as our client, as we create something you’ll be proud to share and show with your customers, family and friends!

Do you offer add-ons?

We sure do! From extra flight time to cover something unexpected, to specialized (planned) shots, professional audio options and more! Cinematic North loves getting creative with you.

Can I get Raw Footage from you?

We offer creatively shot and edited videos or photos of your business needs, special moment or event. Unfortunately, we do not release raw footage from our time shooting. As visual artists, we pride ourselves in our work, and are very proud of creating something unique for you.

We do offer a standalone shooting service to provide raw footage for production companies hired by us to assist in a film or other project.

Do you capture aerial exclusively?

We’re a production house, and as such we love working on various projects! Currently we are working on a full feature film, and a few other projects. Be it commercial or personal, or even an existing production company that requires a hand, Cinematic North loves being creative!

How soon should I book?

Simply put, the moment you decide you want to have us as your production team. Most people have typically booked with us between 2-8 months in advance. To book with Cinematic North, we would require you to sign a contract, and make a deposit (retainer) to secure your date with us. First, let’s meet in person and talk about your needs!

When will I receive my photos and/or video?

We don’t rush the process. We don’t cut corners. We don’t settle for “good enough”. We painstakingly take our time processing, colour grading, and editing your photos or video. Typical turnaround time for photos is 2 weeks, 2-4 weeks for video.

Notes on our Aerial Services:

We are required to file an application for a Special Flight Operations Certificate (SFOC) from Transport Canada for the date you are requiring us to shoot. This is a mandatory procedure for all professional (commercial) drone operators in Canada, and may require 30-45 days notice prior to the event date. Cinematic North will handle the application and process at no additional charge to you.
